Seems like all I have time to do lately is post links to interesting stories. Between writing two books, the dissertation, the full time job, and the kiddos I haven’t found time to blog anything more meaningful. Now I get to add “Write meaningful posts on blog” to my huge to do list.

Never fear, though. There’s enough big stuff going on in virtual worlds to keep us all busy. Today’s lesson: Tweens are taking over casual virtual worlds.

• Zwinky tops 8 million users and $100 million in revenue: looks like those avatars are really cash cows
• 2.5 million faires at Disneyfairies.com: As if Tinkerbell wasn’t enough
• Club Penguin will now be Disney’s: that $6 a month is adding up
• Webbliworld: new virtual world for kids created by the Aardmen folks
• Jumpstart World: virtual space for K-3. Gotta try this with the munchkins this weekend.

In other news:

• Multiverse platform 1.0 released : I’m still not sure of Multiverse’s stability. Projects like Arden (at Indiana University) have moved to other platforms after having trouble with Multiverse but I have great hopes for the possibilities.
