The folks at Pew are definitely UberNoggins. Their latest study results reveal categories of technology users that are highly useful for informing future developments, who will use them, and what technology holes need to be filled.
• “Omnivores,” who fully embrace technology and express themselves creatively through blogs and personal Web pages.
• “Connectors,” who see the Internet and cell phones as communications tools.
• “Productivity enhancers,” who consider technology as largely ways to better keep up with their jobs and daily lives.
• “Lackluster veterans,” those who use technology frequently but aren’t thrilled by it.
I can’t help but wonder what the “Lackluster veterans” need to get them excited and more engaged with the technologies they use. Maybe they feel tied down by it, overwhelmed by it, or they just haven’t found the technology that really fits their lifestyle.
