Early this morning I got an email from a trusted colleague inviting me to join Quechup, a new social network. Now this friend of mine does this stuff for a living and normally, if I get an invite from him, I know I’m getting let in on the “next big thing.” I signed up, allowed the site to look at my gmail address book to look for people I know on the site, and almost immediately I was getting hundreds of out-of-office replies and concerned emails from friends.

For the past eight hours or so hundreds of emails have flowed into my inbox about the site and I’m sure the onslaught will continue over the next few days as people come and go from the holiday weekend.

If you received an invite from me DO NOT sign up. If you already did and you’ve been afflicted I’m sincerely sorry if the site scammed your address list as well.
